YouTube AI Powered Inspiration Tab Causes Concern Among Content Creators
YouTube claimed that the new AI powered Inspiration Tab is a helpful brainstorming tool. However, when pressed, Google admitted users could create entire videos from scratch. Users don't need to provide content. Instead of appearing on camera or filming actual content, user videos can be made entirely using the included DeepMind modeler Veo. No matter how hard putting together a video project in the real world is, Veo will let users create it without ever getting off their butts. The videos will be limited to six seconds, so at least YouTube channels won't have AI-generated Idoru instead of actual hosts. Content created using the Inspiration tab, and Veo will have an immense advantage regarding YouTube's algorithm to recommend videos. Users can modify the content to game those algorithms the instant they change. Users could also use those tools to edit older videos to ensure they match the current weights YouTube applies at the press of a button.

Microsoft Will Use Nuclear Power Plant To Power AI Data Centers
Microsoft has agreed to use one of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant reactors. If regulators approve the deal, the software maker will have the exclusive rights to 100% of production for its power needs for artificial intelligence data centers. Microsoft plans to use next generation nuclear reactors to power its data center and AI expansion. Last year, the company sought to hire someone to implement a plan to install small modular reactors. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates also believes that nuclear power can help solve the climate problem. "This agreement is an important milestone in Microsoft's efforts to help decarbonize the network in support of our commitment to become carbon negative," says Bobby Hollis, Vice President of Energy at Microsoft. Microsoft continues collaborating with energy providers to develop carbon-free energy sources to help meet grids' capacity and reliability needs.

Google Launches DataGemma AI To Reduce Hallucinations
Google launched a new version of the open weighted DataGemma AI based on real world statistics from Google's Data Commons. One of the biggest challenges facing language models today is hallucinations, mainly when large language models deal with statistical data, so accuracy is crucial. Google's Data Commons, a repository of over 240 billion data points collected from trusted organizations like the United Nations and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, plays a pivotal role in the development of DataGemma. By leveraging the large set of statistics, DataGemma can significantly improve the accuracy of its models, ensuring that the output matches real world information. At the core of the DataGemma approach are two key technologies: Retrieval Interleaved Generation (RIG) and Retrieval Enhanced Generation (RAG). The two processes base the model on real world data during the generation process, significantly reducing hallucinations, ensuring the accuracy of the model's output.

Goldman Sachs Reports ChatGPT Usage Declined
In a report released this week, Peter Oppenheimer, head of macro research and chief global equity strategist at Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research in Europe, cited the latest data from analyst firm Similarweb showing that the total number of monthly visits to ChatGPT's website dropped sharply from spring to midsummer. In terms of monthly users, the initial excitement about ChatGPT is fading. Of course, this doesn't mean that the growth rate of the relevant sectors will not be strong, but it does suggest that the next wave of beneficiaries could come from new products and services that users can build based on the foundational models. However, the plummeting monthly usage does not mean the end of OpenAI. Customers may be tired of GPT-4 or turn to other large language models powered by other tech giants. Some users may find that there is no need to integrate AI chatbots into their daily lives. The latest news shows that ChatGPT will be improved as OpenAI's LLM becomes more advanced.

Google Testing Ask Photos AI Assistant
Google is testing its new "Ask Photos" feature, which allows users to explore personal photo libraries in new ways. Google first disclosed the feature in May and is rolling it out to select Google Labs users in the United States. According to the individuals who have used it, you can ask, "Where were we camping when we went to Colorado?" or "What did we eat at the Grand Hotel?" and so on. Using Google's Gemini AI model, Photos will respond based on what's in your photo and bring up images that are relevant to your question. Google says users can also use Ask for Photos to accomplish tasks like summarizing what they've done on a recent vacation or choosing the best photos of their family to put in a shared album. To facilitate the change, Google Photos has replaced the Database tab with a new Collections page. Natural language search makes it easier to find specific images without having to scroll through thousands of pictures or narrow the search based on criteria. Users may also switch back to the traditional search method.

AI chatbots can reduce trust in conspiracy theories by up to 20%
A survey by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, and American University in the USA revealed chatbots could reduce the degree to which people believe in conspiracy theories. Over 2000 people reported their favorite conspiracy theories where they believed the general awareness of the issue was false. They also had them present arguments about why they thought their conspiracy theory was correct and the general belief wrong. Next, they used the GPT-4 Turbo chatbot to try to present personalized counterarguments to their point of view and their presented arguments to support their beliefs. The study revealed that chatbots have the potential to change deeply held beliefs. The systems were able to present convincing arguments based on facts, leading to a 20% change in the respondents' beliefs about their favorite conspiracy theories. This finding offers hope for the potential of technology to combat misinformation.
