Hackers Steal Passwords From Google Chrome

Hackers continue to develop and use new techniques to steal user data. One of the latest threats involves malicious software called StealC. This tool targets users of the Google Chrome browser and poses a severe risk to account security. Hackers use it to gain unauthorized access to passwords and other sensitive data using deceptive tactics. The primary function of the StealC program is to hijack the Google Chrome browser by running it in full screen mode. Closing or exiting the browser becomes impossible, making the situation especially dangerous because the victim cannot take immediate action to exit the mode. A fake Google account login window designed to look like a standard authorization interface is displayed on the computer screen. The window misleads users, prompting them to enter their usernames and passwords. Cybersecurity experts from the Open Analysis Lab confirmed the StealC malware uses Amadey to deliver various malicious codes to victims' devices.

Microsoft Updates Word with Copilot AI

Microsoft unveiled a series of updates to Office applications featuring new AI powered functions. One of the standout innovations is the integration of Python in Copilot for Excel. With Python, you can conduct risk analysis, make predictions, apply machine learning, and visualize data using an easy-to-understand language. The PowerPoint update allows users to use artificial intelligence to generate ideas and draft presentations. Copilot can now apply branded templates and use approved images from the SharePoint library. In Microsoft Teams, Copilot can now analyze the results of voice meetings and text chats. Artificial intelligence checks to see if essential issues have been missed during the discussions, allowing users to stay on top of all the critical points of the meeting. Outlook will also receive an update that will make it easier to find priority messages. Artificial intelligence will analyze emails depending on their context and significance for each user.

New Version AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution Technology Includes AI

AMD announced the next version of its FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, the FSR 4, will incorporate AI features. The giant wants to follow in the footsteps of Nvidia (DLSS) and Intel (XeSS). The goal is to improve visual quality while boosting game performance. The adoption of AI in FSR technology responds to the growing demand for more efficient and accurate scaling. FSR 4 will rely on AI to offer both frame generation and image interpolation. The technologies will increase battery life for wearable devices while boosting overall GPU performance. The first iteration of FSR was pure spatial oversampling with no AI or time component. AMD had the latter with FSR 2 and then FSR 3, which led to a significant improvement in graphics quality. AMD is targeting the consumer segment, and the launch will coincide with a company launch of the next generation of GPUs (RDNA 4). This new approach with AI will likely be inspired by the one influencing the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) used in the SoC of the new PlayStation 5 Pro.

Medical Treatment Scams Spread By Fake Videos And Websites"

Social media is flooded with fake videos using the trusted identities of famous doctors to promote dangerous miracle cures for serious health problems. As an example, Facebook and Instagram are two legitimate sites containing false videos that take advantage of the credibility of celebrity doctors to advertise dangerous untested medical cures. Several sites claimed the life saving diabetes drug Metformin could kill patients. Experts warn the scams risk endangering lives because they deploy the likenesses of popular health experts who meticulously crafted an image of trustworthiness. The trust makes the false claims all the more believable to the unsuspecting public. The AI videos typically target older audiences. When social media takes action and removes the fake sites, they appear again under a different name the next day. Recent advances in AI have made the quality of counterfeit images, audio, and video far more convincing. Experts are not optimistic that newly developed AI detection tools can fight against the onslaught of bogus websites.

Meta Used FaceBook And Instagram User Data To Train AI

Meta's admission at a hearing in Australia that it trains its AI systems using photos of Facebook and Instagram users is significant. The admission has far reaching implications for data privacy and the rights of social media users. The data sources used to train AI systems are causing problems for many companies. The Australian government is now investigating Meta. During the questioning of Melinda Claybaugh from Meta, it emerged that the company uses Australian Facebook and Instagram social network data to train its AI systems. Claybaugh initially denied this but then admitted to the practice when questioned by Senator David Shoubridge. She confirmed that if users did not set their posts to private, all text and images uploaded to the network since 2007 became a data source for AI training. Australian users cannot disable Meta from using pictures and other data to train AI. In Europe, this option is possible due to the GDPR law. Australian users could protect themselves if Australia had a similar law.

Oracle Plans Three Small Nuclear Reactors To Power Data Centers

The rise of artificial intelligence has led to a surge in computing power and the establishment of new data centers for AI. The increasing power requirements of the large data centers has become a pressing issue, prompting companies to seek alternative solutions. One such solution being considered is the use of small low power modular reactors. While large companies have been discussing this possibility, Oracle has taken the lead by receiving approval to build three such reactors, marking a significant step in addressing the industry's energy needs. Small modular reactors are similar to those used on naval vessels, including submarines and aircraft carriers. Oracle can easily find a contractor to implement such a project. However, all this raises questions regarding safety and environmental protection. Therefore, it will take years to agree on all the issues. According to analysts' forecasts, the deployment of such energy infrastructure will begin in the early 2030s. In the meantime, Microsoft is also working on its own nuclear strategy.

Adobe Previews Firefly AI Video Tools

Adobe unveiled Firefly AI video generation tools. The examples are mesmerizing and terrifying as the company slowly integrates tools built to automate much of the creative work its prized user base is paid for today. Adobe frames it as supplementary tech that helps take the monotony from post production. Adobe describes its new Firefly powered text to video, Generative Extend, and image to video AI tools as helping editors with tasks like navigating gaps in footage, removing unwanted objects from a scene, smoothing jump cut transitions, and searching for the perfect b-roll. The tools will give video editors more time to explore new creative ideas. Adobe claims its Firefly Video Model is commercially safe and only trains on content the company has permission to use. It also used its own database, which contains 400 million images, illustrations, and videos. The new video models will be available in beta form later this year.
