Nvidia Served With Subpoena In US Antitrust Probe
The US Justice Department has subpoenaed Nvidia as part of an ongoing antitrust probe. The company allegedly used anticompetitive practices to limit competition and coerce customers into using Nvidia products. Third parties, likely tech companies that are Nvidia customers, have also been subpoenaed to provide information. Subpoenas are legally binding requests for information, and recipients must provide accurate information. The information obtained from these subpoenas could have severe consequences for Nvidia, bringing the US Justice Department closer to launching a formal complaint against the company if the DOJ uncovers evidence of anticompetitive practices. The French Autorite de la Concurrence is conducting a similar investigation into Nvidia in France. Last year, French authorities raided Nvidia offices over alleged anticompetitive practices, highlighting the global nature of the inquiry. Nvidia has previously been accused of anticompetitive practices in the GPU/AI market. One of their former GeForce managers previously referred to the company as a "GPU Cartel" that "controls all supply."

OpenAI To Add 8 New Human Voices To ChatGPT
If you are actively using the Internet, then various kinds of chatbots based on artificial intelligence are not surprising to you. The ChatGPT service is the absolute leader in this direction, having the most extensive user base worldwide. In addition, according to an insider, the developers of this service are actively working to strengthen their position in the market - the integration of more realistic voices that will imitate a person. This artificial intelligence can voice the text, allowing you to have a reasonably meaningful conversation with it as if you are communicating with someone. The only problem is that in the communication process, the user still notices that he is communicating with a machine because a system based on a neural network can sometimes confuse intonation, distort words, and much more. To fix this problem, the developers plan to simultaneously integrate eight new voices recorded by real people to generate voice content based on them. This technology will reach a high level after some time, allowing you to communicate with the machine at the same level as a living person. However, users would like it to work better.

NVIDIA Emphasizes AI For GeForce RTX Graphics
NVIDIA updated its GeForce RTX platform and introduced a new tagline: "Powering Advanced AI." This addition reflects the company's ambition to highlight the importance of artificial intelligence on its hardware platforms. It's remarkable, as NVIDIA rarely changes its GeForce RTX logos. The last significant adjustment occurred in 2018, when NVIDIA launched the first RTX graphics cards, replacing the GTX series. Now, NVIDIA has added a new tagline to the logo that emphasizes the AI capabilities of their hardware. NVIDIA has recently been at the forefront of AI development, especially in introducing various applications and technologies. These technologies demonstrate the power of artificial intelligence on consumer hardware. Over 600 RTX apps currently use AI capabilities and more apps are set to come, highlighting the increasing importance of AI in NVIDIA products. With each new generation of its hardware, NVIDIA brings significant performance gains. The next generation, the RTX 50 series, codenamed "Blackwell," is expected to offer even faster AI performance than the current "Ada" series of RTX 40 graphics cards.

Rand Corporation Reveals Why 80% of AI Projects Fail
Recently, the Rand Corporation, in a bid to understand the high failure rate of AI projects, conducted a survey. The survey involved 65 data scientists and engineers, each with a minimum of five years of experience in developing artificial intelligence and/or mathematical learning models in industry or academia. The first and most common problem was that industry stakeholders often needed help understanding what problems artificial intelligence could solve and what it could achieve. Another important reason AI projects fail is that organizations need more data to properly train an effective AI model. Understanding these issues can significantly improve the success rate of AI projects. There's also the problem that data researchers and engineers are focusing on using the latest and best artificial intelligence technology instead of asking whether using it would help solve any real issues that users face. The other two factors identified are that organizations need more infrastructure to process data and deploy completed AI models and that AI is sometimes applied to problems that too difficult to solve.

Google Adds AI Image Generation To Products
In May at I/O 2024, Google demonstrated how it will integrate more artificial intelligence into its products and introduced new AI techniques. Recently, Google made its user friendly generative AI model for images, Imagen 3, available to the public. Image 3 is now ready for use on the four versions of the Google platform: Gemini, Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise. Google updated the creative imaging capabilities and integrated Imagen 3 into Gemini apps, with plans to make it available to users in all languages. Google highlighted that Imagen 3 offers advanced image generation features, such as high resolution output, realistic textures, and complex scene generation. These features come with built in protections to prevent the creation of photorealistic images of identifiable individuals, minors, or excessively violent, bloody, or sexual scenes. Google pointed out the lack of protections in Grok, xAI's AI, as an example of the issues caused by unrestricted use. Imagen 3 incorporates the SynthID tool, a feature that adds watermarks to AI generated images. The tool enhances privacy and security by making it difficult to misuse or misattribute the pictures.
